Roamer partners with Swift to power the next generation of motorhomes
We're proud to announce a new partnership with Swift, one of the UK's biggest & best-known leisure vehicle manufacturers. From the 2027 season, Roamer lithium leisure batteries will be fitted across Swift's motorhome ranges, bringing our technology to thousands more owners on the road.
For us, this is more than a supply agreement. It shows how lithium power is changing what's possible in a leisure vehicle, and how manufacturers are now designing around it.
For years, going lithium meant buying a new van and then spending a weekend ripping out the battery it came with. The factory fitted lead-acid, and you upgraded it yourself.
That's changing, and fast. Walk around the 2027 launches and you'll notice lithium isn't hiding on the options list anymore. It's on the spec sheet, as standard.

The star in the show? Meet the GAS-FREE Carrera
This is the bit we're most excited about. Swift's Carrera campervan range has gone fully electric in the habitation area, and it's running on a 340Ah Roamer.
The Carrera models have ditched gas completely. It isn't even on the options list. The whole kitchen runs off lithium:

📦 Combi microwave
❄️ Fridge
Cosy nights are covered too. A Truma 6kW diesel heater runs off the van's own fuel, so there are no gas bottles to swap and no hunting for refills in a French supermarket at 6pm.
Keeping it all topped up is a 3kW inverter, an AXC40 3-in-1 charger and a 240W solar panel on the roof. You can charge while you drive, charge on hook-up, or just park up somewhere beautiful and let the sun do the work.
The Carrera is just the start. For 2027, the Swift family will benefit from lithium's advantages over traditional lead-acid:
- More usable capacity. You can draw far more of the stored energy.
- Lighter weight. This frees up payload for everything else you want to bring.
- Faster charging. You spend less time waiting and more time touring.
- Longer lifespan. The battery lasts through many more charge cycles.
Why now?
We've been banging this drum since the days of batteries stacked in our kitchen in Yorkshire. So what's finally tipped it?
⚡ We want to live electric. Induction hobs, air fryers, coffee machines, laptops for working on the road. Modern van life runs on power, and lead-acid simply can't keep up.
⚖️ Payload is precious. Most motorhomes are squeezed right up against 3,500kg. A lithium battery weighs roughly half as much as a lead-acid one of the same rating, and every kilo saved is a kilo you can use for bikes, boards or a full water tank.
🔋 You can actually use the power. You should only drain around half of a lead-acid battery before you start damaging it. Lithium lets you use almost all of it. Same size, far more power.
🌍 Gas-free is going mainstream. Once the kitchen is electric, the battery becomes the heart of the van. Manufacturers know that means it has to be up to the job.
🛡 The certifications are there. Factory fitting means proper testing and type approval. Batteries like Roamer's SMART range carry ECE R10 certification for type-approved vehicles, which makes it simpler for manufacturers to fit lithium from day one.
