Roamer batteries work with a wide range of motorhome charging systems including Schaudt/Lippert, Sargent, CBE, Nordelletronica and more.
A range of compact batteries that can fit under a standard seat of almost any motorhome including the 230SEATBASE5 and the new 340SMART5.
The new 144SMART5 battery offers all the standard SMART5 features but into a traditional lead acid style case, with standard battery posts and fixing points.
Connect as many SMART5 batteries in parallel as you need, for maximum capacity and flexibility. With SMART5 you can also add batteries at a later date.
Alternator Charging
Older motorhomes (pre 2018) are usually fitted with a split charge relay (VSR) to allow for charging from the alternator. This is a crude solution that connects the vehicle and leisure batteries together when the engine is running, to allow the alternator to charge both batteries while driving. The mandatory fitting of smart alternators for modern vehicles, and the invention of Battery to Battery (DC-DC) chargers has made this solution obsolete although many motorhomes still have a split charge relay system in place.
It is not essential, but when upgrading to lithium, we usually recommend you upgrade to a DC-DC charger. Roamer SMART5 batteries can be charged with either system but a DC-DC charger will give you much faster, more consistent charging, with control over the charge voltage and currents.
